The Trap of "Peaceful" Cynicism on the Ukrainian "Mannerheim Line"

I notice a very sophisticated thesis surfacing more and more frequently. It suggests that Western aid was only right at the start, but now it is merely "fuel" for an endless war from which mysterious beneficiaries profit.
It is framed not as the words of war criminal Putin or his international lackey Lavrov, but as "lofty considerations": the authors of such claims magnanimously allow the West to help Ukrainians at the beginning of the full-scale invasion, but certainly not today—for that would be "prolonging the war." And yet, a vast number of people listen to this—pardon me—nonsense with mouths agape, even eagerly spreading it.
We are also invited to believe that fighting for every kilometer of Donbas land is a senseless waste of lives, and that it is time to accept the "new reality." And this, heaven forbid, is not portrayed as Putin’s propaganda, but as a noble aspiration for peace, happiness, the prosperity of both countries, and a return to mutual economic cooperation.
But there is a catch! The cursed "beneficiaries" of the war are, for some reason, only Ukrainian. Meanwhile, the Russian oligarchs who before the war were eyeing Kharkiv’s "Turboatom," "Electrotyazhmash," KhTZ, and the Morozov Design Bureau along with the Malyshev Plant—they are presented as mere altruists and doves of peace...
I wonder, are the authors of such dreams of "peace, friendship, and chewing gum" serious? Against the backdrop of a bloody landscape where Russia kills Ukrainians every day in Dnipro, Sumy, Kharkiv, Odesa, Kherson, and the small town of Bohodukhiv?
This narrative is being actively pushed both within Trump’s circle—White House corridors are full of Kremlin oligarchic lobbyists with lavish accounts in American banks—and among the "good Russians." Why? It seems they have only one goal: to force Ukraine to lay down its arms.
And this is happening precisely when the Russians have begun to truly choke. Professional US and British intelligence look at numbers, not social media posts. And these numbers tell a different story: Ukraine is currently in its best strategic position of the past year.
The myth of Russia's "endless human resource" has finally shattered against reality. While a year ago the Kremlin had a reserve of 150,000 trained troops, today this resource has been scraped to zero. Now, every recruit is thrown into the hell of Pokrovsk or Kostiantynivka straight from the train station, and they burn out there faster than they can even scout their positions. The Russians themselves admit: the classic mathematics of war has broken—instead of the wounded, they are receiving 70% KIA ("200s"), because AFU drones and centralized fire control simply leave no chance for evacuation.
Look at the evolution on Solovyov’s broadcasts: yesterday’s hawks like Khodarenok now gloomily state that the "SMO" must be wound down because prolonged wars destroy states, and Napoleon's fate is not the best prospect. While Putin continues to draw victories on maps, a muffled mutiny is brewing in the corridors of the Russian Ministry of Defense. Generals are fighting among themselves as equipment and men vanish into the "black holes" of the front, while the line of contact remains stationary despite all of Gerasimov’s upbeat reports.
At this very moment, we are told: "there is no need to fight for a few kilometers." But these kilometers are not just land; they are the true Ukrainian "Mannerheim Line." Over a billion dollars invested in the belt of fortresses around Kramatorsk and Sloviansk have turned this region into an impenetrable concrete trap. Even Donald Trump, realizing the scale of this defense and the actual state of the AFU, has begun to soften his calls for territorial concessions. He is a pragmatist and sees that what some try to pass off as a "stalemate" is actually the strategic exhaustion of the aggressor.
Ukrainians are indeed exhausted by this winter, but they remain strong because they know the price of "peace" on Russia's terms. The thesis that Western aid is counterproductive is pure manipulation, beneficial only to those who fear the final collapse of the Russian war machine.
And who are the actual "beneficiaries" of Western aid? I must disappoint the manipulators—it is our fighting army, our new missiles and drones, a working economy, restored energy infrastructure, and indexed pensions. For every euro of Western aid, Ukraine reports meticulously and in detail: where the funds are directed and how they are spent. And they are spent, as we can see, for good reason.
